New to Mason Recreation – Minor Memberships

 

Starting August 16, we are extending our minor access hours at the Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Recreation Athletic Complex and adding a new minor access membership!  

Parents/guardians and minors, ages 3-17 , can access our facilities in select areas together during posted minor times if they both have valid Mason Recreation memberships. See below for hours, membership requirements and rules / regulations.

Minor Hours 

  • Fall & Spring Semesters: From Friday at 4pm – Sunday at 4pm  
  • Summer, Winter and Spring Breaks: During all facility operating hours  

 

Membership Requirements 

Active Mason Recreation Memberships 

  • Parent/Guardian must have a valid Mason Rec membership or day pass ($10) AND 
  • Minor/child must have a valid Mason Rec minor membership ($200) or minor day pass ($5)

Additional Guardians 

Parents of minors/children may designate up to three (3) additional names of people over 18 who can act as a guardian in the facility when the parent is not present. The names will be added to the child’s account in our system.  

The additional guardians will need to have a Mason Recreation membership or day pass ($10) to access the facilities with the minor. 

Additional guardians must present a valid photo ID at the time of membership or day pass purchase.  

Rules & Regulations 

  1. Parent/Guardian must be in the same room and no further than 20ft from their minor.  
  2. Parent/Guardian must be participating in the same activity as the minor (ex. Swimming together, basketball together) 
    1. Exception: When the minor is enrolled in an instructional program or a part of a special event/rental, parent/guardian does not have to be participating as well. 
  3. Minors under 12 years old must remain an arm’s length distance from their parent/guardian.  
  4. Minors under 16 years old are not permitted on the fitness floors, in the sauna or whirlpool.
