Monthly Health and Fitness Screenings
What is it?
Mason Recreation’s Free Health and Fitness Screenings provide valuable information to help you stay on track to meet your fitness related goals. These events help to provide a snapshot of an individual’s current health status and are an important component of health management. Along with Mason Recreation, other campus partners work together to provide you with an assessment that determines what possible health related risk factors you might have, how you can improve your health, and what resources George Mason has to help you do so.
Where are the screenings?
All of our scheduled screenings are going to be held in the Aquatic and Fitness Center classroom unless otherwise noted.
When is the next one?
- Wednesday, September 4th, 2019
- Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019
- Wednesday, November 3rd, 2019
How can you participate?
The Health and Fitness Screenings are free for the campus community! To participate in the screening all you have to do is come to the screening location. It is preferred that you wear clothing that would allow for you to complete a light squat, have your blood pressure taken, and to complete low intensity stretches.
What assessments/info is available to attendees?
Student Health Services, the George Mason University Registered Dietitian, and certified personal trainers from Mason Recreation will be on hand at each event to offer tools and advice to help you make informed decisions on topics including exercise, nutrition, and preventative health measures. Each participant will receive a customized screening report providing insight on their:
- Various Mini workshops- ie: TRX demo, Battle Ropes, Foam Rolling, Yoga Poses, Chair Exercises, Equipment Orientations, etc.
- Blood Pressure
- Postural Assessment
- Squat Assessment
- Body Mass Index (BMI)

- Dietary Q & A with the Campus Registered Dietitian
- Q & A with a Personal Trainer
***Additional screening options and information is available based on the expertise of the staff available***
How long will it take?
You decide what stations you want to visit, so the screening can take as little as 5 minutes or longer if you decide to visit all of the stations.
Are there gifts/prizes?
We do occasionally provide gifts/prizes at various points throughout selected screenings. So don’t miss a screening and you will not miss an opportunity to receive one of our gifts/prizes.
