Yoga – Tips for practicing on your own
Yoga on your own can seem overwhelming when you’re first starting out, but with these detailed photos created by our Group Fitness Instructor Dana Moskowitz, hopefully we can give you the confidence to release your inner yogi and try a few moves on your own! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or are just starting out, yoga is a great way to stay active, gain self-awareness, and relieve stress during this difficult time. Here is a quick guide for a few common yoga poses, ranging from absolute beginner to advanced.
- If you don’t know where to start, feel free to click on a pose and read the general description.
- Start with static poses (that work on posture), and move your way up to stretching dynamic poses (like crane) to gain a full body workout.
- Once you develop a level of comfort with each individual pose, try making you own routine, moving pose to pose as smoothly as possible.
If you have any questions, or would like to request a certain pose, feel free to reach out to our fitness team at Fitness@gmu.edu. Don’t forget to breathe, happy adventures Patriots!
