Frequently Asked Questions:

“Do I have to wear a mask at all times?”

All indoor activities (such as our 4v4 volleyball league or Super Smash Tournaments) require participants to wear a face covering at all times. For our outdoor activities (like 6v6 soccer league or our tennis league), participants are required to wear masks when entering/exiting the complex and when interacting with our staff during check-in. While you are playing an activity where 10 feet of distance can consistently be maintained, a face covering is not required.

“How do I know other participants are ok to participate?”

Prior to each game or event, all staff and participants are required to take the Health Check. Prior to entering our facilities or complexes, all participants must demonstrate they have passed the daily Health Check by showing their green box. This can be shown through email confirmation or on the website. Any individual that has a yellow or red box, will be not be permitted to participate.

“How is social distancing being managed and enforced during events?”

The competitive sports staff ensure that a minimum of 6ft of distance is maintained between individuals while they enter/exit the facilities, while they wait to check-in, and while they take water breaks. If the activity requires participants to be seated the seats will be spaced out accordingly. During physical activity, 10ft of distance will be consistently maintained between players.

“What sanitization measures are being taken to ensure equipment and other surfaces are safe?”

All shared equipment (such as rackets, balls, and game consoles) is sanitized after each use. High touch areas (such as doorknobs and seats) are sanitized throughout the duration of the event.

“Can I bring my own equipment?”

Of course! If you have your own equipment, and you feel more comfortable using it, you are welcome to bring it to play!

“I am scheduled to play, however, now I feel sick. What should I do?”

Contact our office as soon as you think you are unable to play in a scheduled game. You can submit a Default Notification Form and we can contact your opponent and our staff to notify them of your absence.  If you give us enough notice, we may be able to schedule a substitute for you.

“Can I bring a friend to come watch?”

Unfortunately, no. While we greatly enjoy having spectators present at intramural games, due to capacity limits in spaces, and for the welfare of everyone present, we are not permitting spectators this year. All individuals who arrive to an event must be pre-registered and/or on a roster.

“If I still feel uncomfortable with in-person events, or I am not on campus this semester, are there other events I can participate in?”

Yes! We are still continuing to offer a variety of virtual events to ensure you can stay connected with the Mason community! Check out our Spring 2021 Calendar to see the most up to date offerings.
