Q: What is Mason Rec?

Mason Recreation is a division of University Life that provides recreational programs, services, and facilities that are innovative, comprehensive, inclusive, and of unsurpassed quality.

 Q: What is the membership cost for students?

Membership is FREE for all full-time students. Membership costs $55/semester for part-time students. Summer fees for part time students are $30.

Q: What is the membership cost for faculty & staff? Do you offer Payroll Deduction?

Membership costs $300 per year or $30 per month for faculty/staff. Payroll deduction is available to Mason’s faculty and staff. To register for payroll deduction, contact the Membership Coordinator at masonrec@gmu.edu.

Q: I’m not affiliated with Mason. Can I still use your facility?

Yes. Community members may purchase a membership at the cost of $750 per year or $75 per month. For more information on membership prices click here

Q: Do you offer personal training services?

Yes, we offer great rates on all personal training packages. For more information on Mason Rec’s personal training program click here 

Q: Do you offer group exercise classes?

Yes! We offer a variety of aerobic, dance, fitness, and cycling classes. All group exercise classes are free of charge for full-time students and gym members. We also offer martial arts and yoga classes for a semester fee. For more information click the links below

Q: What is the full list of membership benefits?

3 State of the Art Fitness Facilities 2 Pools – Recreation & Competition Basketball, Racquetball, and Squash courts Group Exercise Classes, Full Locker Rooms, Showers, Sauna/Steam Room, Fitness Events and more.

Q: How do I pay for my membership?

You may pay for your membership at the front desk of the Aquatic Fitness Center (AFC), Skyline Fitness Center or the Recreation Athletic Complex (RAC) facilities.

Q: What is your guest policy? Can I bring a friend?

Day passes are available for purchase for $10.00 per pass.

Q: Do you offer lockers and showers?

Yes, we offer both lockers and showers at the AFC and the RAC. Skyline, however, does not offer showers.

Q: I don’t know how to use the equipment. Do you offer orientations?

Yes, we offer FREE equipment orientations. Please contact the Fitness Office at fitness@gmu.edu  to schedule an appointment.

Q: Do you offer Fitness Assessments?

Yes. Mason Recreation’s certified personal trainers will provide fitness consultations and assessments to students, faculty/staff and community members for only $20. If you are interested in a fitness assessment, fill out a personal training form at the front desk of any of our facilities and a member of the fitness team will contact you to schedule an appointment.

Q: Do you offer CPR/AED/First Aid certifications?

Yes, we offer CPR/AED/First Aid Certifications which are available at a discounted rate for members and a full price rate for non-members. For more information click here
