Splash Night 2024

 

Join us for an evening of aquatic fun as we kick off the Fall Semester! Splash Night is this Friday, September 13 from 8-10 p.m. We will have activities such as log rolling, paddle boarding, and our annual Biggest Splash Contest!

Be sure to check out what Mason Recreation and our Club Sports do in the pool too! Underwater Hockey, Club Swim, a Paddleboard boot camp class, and more will have drop-in sessions to try out and see if they are for you.

Updates Made to Field 3

This summer, Field #3 on West Campus was replaced with new artificial turf (2” Field Turf XT-50). The field features soccer and women’s lacrosse lines and hosts a variety of activities to include our Club Sports teams, Intramural Sports, open play for students and a number of local youth team practices and competitions.

Be sure to check it out next time you’re on West Campus!

IVth Night is Moving Indoors!

Due to incoming inclement weather tonight’s IVth Night event, originally located at RAC Field, is being moved indoors to the Recreation Athletic Complex (RAC). The event will still be from 7 – 10 p.m.

Please enter the event through the main entrance of the RAC.

Beep Baseball Learn to Play Clinic Coming in September

 

Join us at George Mason University on Saturday, September 7 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a Beep Baseball Learn to Play event hosted by Mason Recreation, in collaboration with the Metro Washington Association of Blind Athletes, Northern Virginia Community College, George Mason Disability Services, the Philadelphia Fire, and Bayou City Heat.

This event offers a unique opportunity to learn and play beep baseball, an adaptive version of America’s favorite pastime. The event is open to all participants ages 15+ and includes a morning clinic, a provided lunch, and an afternoon scrimmage. Come ready to engage in physical activity on the field, and don’t forget your athletic gear and baseball glove if you have one! We have a limited number of slots to ensure everyone gets ample time to play.

New to Mason Recreation – Minor Memberships

 

Starting August 16, we are extending our minor access hours at the Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Recreation Athletic Complex and adding a new minor access membership!  

Parents/guardians and minors, ages 3-17 , can access our facilities in select areas together during posted minor times if they both have valid Mason Recreation memberships. See below for hours, membership requirements and rules / regulations.

Minor Hours 

  • Fall & Spring Semesters: From Friday at 4pm – Sunday at 4pm  
  • Summer, Winter and Spring Breaks: During all facility operating hours  

 

Membership Requirements 

Active Mason Recreation Memberships 

  • Parent/Guardian must have a valid Mason Rec membership or day pass ($10) AND 
  • Minor/child must have a valid Mason Rec minor membership ($200) or minor day pass ($5)

Additional Guardians 

Parents of minors/children may designate up to three (3) additional names of people over 18 who can act as a guardian in the facility when the parent is not present. The names will be added to the child’s account in our system.  

The additional guardians will need to have a Mason Recreation membership or day pass ($10) to access the facilities with the minor. 

Additional guardians must present a valid photo ID at the time of membership or day pass purchase.  

Rules & Regulations 

  1. Parent/Guardian must be in the same room and no further than 20ft from their minor.  
  2. Parent/Guardian must be participating in the same activity as the minor (ex. Swimming together, basketball together) 
    1. Exception: When the minor is enrolled in an instructional program or a part of a special event/rental, parent/guardian does not have to be participating as well. 
  3. Minors under 12 years old must remain an arm’s length distance from their parent/guardian.  
  4. Minors under 16 years old are not permitted on the fitness floors, in the sauna or whirlpool.

Finals Week Facilities Schedule | May 1st – 8th!

Dear members,
Some of our Mason Recreation facilities will have altered hours during campus finals week.

Aquatic & Fitness Center

The AFC will have normal hours during this period:
  • Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Friday: 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Sunday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Skyline Fitness Center

  • Wednesday May 1st – Friday May 3rd: 3:00 PM-midnight
  • Saturday May 4th – Sunday May 5th: 5 PM – 9 PM
  • Monday, May 6th: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Tuesday, May 7th: Closed for the summer

Recreation Athletic Complex

  • Wednesday May 1st – Thursday May 2nd: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday, May 3rd: 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Saturday, May 4th: 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Sunday, May 5th: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Monday May 6th – Wednesday May 8th: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Outdoor Venues

RAC Field will open and close with the RAC Facility. All other fields are by reservation only.
