Teamwork in Action: Thanks for Making Pitch In On the Piedmont a Success

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Pitch In On the Piedmont event last month! We had nearly 30 incredible volunteers, including a student working on their Eagle Scout project, the Manassas Young Marines and Mason students from the Biology and Engineering departments. Because of their hard work, we were able to add much to large areas of the Piedmont Trail and install two brand-new benches. Their efforts made a huge impact, and we couldn’t have done it without them!

Pickle Madness: Mason Duo smashes to 3rd Place Finish

On Saturday, September 28th, Mason Recreation hit the courts for an epic showdown at the National Mall of Pickleball’s Pickle Madness event. Battling it out with colleges across D.C., alumni Ahmed Uthman and senior Leo Jourdain teamed up to represent Mason against fierce competition from Catholic University, George Washington University, Gallaudet University and the University of Maryland. With thrilling matches and high-energy action, the Mason duo powered through to finish with a 4-2 record, snagging a third-place finish.

The National Mall of Pickleball is an annual celebration of fun and fitness, hosted by the Trust of the National Mall, and it’s all about promoting active lifestyles through the exciting game of pickleball.
