What are Club Sports?

Mason Club Sports provides students the opportunity to continue to compete in sports at a high level, further refine their skills, or even try out a completely new sport. Club Sports are student-led organizations recognized by Student Involvement and guided by Mason Recreation staff, coaches, and/or faculty/staff advisors.

Mason Recreation houses 30+ Club Sports with 900+ members in Men’s, Women’s, and Co-Recreational organizations. Clubs compete at various levels against other universities, regionally, nationally, and even internationally.

Clubs typically practice two to three times per week and compete on weekends throughout the academic year. Club Sports not only offer a space for development as athletes, but also provide students the opportunity to grow as leaders and build relationships with like-minded members of the larger Mason community.

What is the Difference Between Club Sports and Intramural Sports?

The Intramural Sports program offers recreational and competitive leagues for all skill levels and experience. Intramural Sports games take place on campus and feature competition with and against other members of the Mason community. Intramural teams typically do not have practices and games are played once per week for each sport over a 4 to 5 week season.

How Do I Join a Club?
