Course Description
This course recertifies lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Certification includes American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Copies of current certification must be attached to the registration form or faxed in to complete registration. Individuals whose certification has expired beyond 30 days by the first day of class must take the full certification course again, no exceptions.
Prerequisites
- Hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification.
- Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing using the front crawl and breaststroke.
- Tread water for two minutes using only the legs.
- Swim 20 yards using the front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
