Safety Training Refund Policy:
To receive a refund, please email our Aquatic and Fitness Center email at aquatics@gmu.edu
For CPR/AED, First Aid, Lifeguard Training, Lifeguard Training Review, and Water Safety Instructor Courses.
- Cancellation two or more weeks prior to the start of class = 100 percent refund
- Cancellation 7 to 13 days prior to the start of class = 75 percent refund
- Cancellation fewer than seven days to the start of class = 50 percent refund
There will be a $50 non-refundable fee for failed prerequisite swim tests on the first day of class for Lifeguard Training, Lifeguard Training Review, and Water Safety Instructor Courses. Please schedule a free prerequisite test prior to the start of class if you are afraid you may not pass. Once a participant has passed the pretest on the first day of class, their enrollment in the course is final. No refunds or class transfers will be permitted for any reason.
Private and Semi-Private Swim Lesson Refund Policy:
Once your first lesson has taken place, the lesson package is non-refundable and non-transferable except for the following conditions:
- Medical withdrawal, doctors note required
- Military deployment/relocation, documentation required
Lesson packages are valid for 6 months following the purchase date. Swim Lessons will be scheduled with the participant based on their availability, instructor availability, and pool availability.
Refunds will not be issued after the expiration date.
If the participant cancels a scheduled lesson without 24 hours’ notice or does not attend their scheduled lesson, they do not receive a make-up lesson. The lesson is forfeited.
Instructors will only wait 15 minutes for late arrivals. After 15 minutes, the lesson will be determined as a “no show” and will be counted as a used lesson.
For best results, lessons should be a continuous process with no more than one week between sessions.
All participants are required to bring with them their issued membership card for every lesson and to swipe in at the front desk for each lesson.
Utilization of the Aquatic and Fitness Center before or after lessons by the participant is prohibited unless the participant has a regular membership or has purchased a day pass.

Masters Swimming and Aqua Aerobics Refund Policy
Once the semester practices have begun your enrollment is final. No refunds will be issued except for the following reasons:
