Mason Recreation

A letter to our members | #2

To our Mason Recreation Members & Guests,

As we continue to work on our plan for a safe return to campus, and the reopening of our facilities, our focus is to provide the safest environment possible for the well-being of our members for future participation and use of our facilities, programs, and services. To assist us in meeting your needs, we have created a survey to allow for feedback to help guide us in our actions.

Please Complete Our Recreation Facilities User Survey

This survey is closing on July 13th, 2020 and through it we are gathering information that will assist us in preparing for the Fall semester, as well as the reopening of our facilities. We will use your responses to better understand the needs and concerns of our Mason community. Responses are anonymous and reported only in aggregate. If you have questions related to the survey, please contact Mason Recreation at [email protected]

A Letter To Our Members

To Our Mason Recreation Members & Guests,

We hope that you are all staying safe, healthy, and finding ways to stay active and empower your well-being during this unprecedented time. Our thoughts are with you all as we work to navigate our new reality.

Please rest assured knowing that every member of the Mason Recreation team is working diligently to secure a safe environment for our members, guests, and the Mason Community in preparation for a return to campus. Our Focus is to provide the safest environment possible for the well-being of our patrons for future participation and use of our facilities, programs, and services.

We are staying in line with the guidelines and best practices that are set forth from the American College Health AssociationNIRSA: Leaders in Collegiate Recreation Association, and George Mason University in determining a re-open date for our Recreation facilities. Given this guidance, we anticipate that the re-open date for our facilities may be later then the Virginia Governor’s plan for corporate, municipal, and additional fitness facilities.

Future communication will be sent out once we have more information about our re-opening, hours of operations, amenities/ services, and any additional guidance/ protocols we are able to share. Please also use the University Life Covid Student Success website as a reference for all the up to date information and communications about George Mason resources and facilities. The George Mason University Covid Website is also a good source for university wide decisions and information regarding Covid-19.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

Find Trails to Near YOU!

We might need to keep some physical distance from each other for a while, but we don’t need to shut ourselves in. The outdoors is still open for business (just remember to practice social distancing, keep 6 feet away from others!). AllTrails is here to help you find local trails and open spaces for mental, physical and emotional catharsis. We invite you to move your body, breathe the fresh air, and strengthen your spirit in the safe haven that’s always been there – Nature.

Just a heads up though, while the trails may be open, many facilities are now closed or closing including public restrooms, visitor centers, and public campgrounds. Make sure you plan accordingly.

Click here to visit AllTrails website and find a trail near you!
