  • Lifeguard

Lifeguards maintain a safe, clean and secure environment for patrons in the aquatic area. They act as first responders and provide assistance to medical emergencies throughout the facility. Lifeguards are trained to have knowledge of the pool areas including chemicals used to clean and sanitize the pools as well as pool lengths, depths, and temperature.

Qualifications required: Certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider (or equivalent).

  • Swim Instructor

Swim Instructors are certified as American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors that teach in the George Mason University’s Learn to Swim Program. They instruct swim participants according to skill requirements as defined by the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Program. Swim Instructors work with private and semi-private swim lessons to foster an educational experience that balances the individuals needs and goals.

Qualifications required: American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification.
