Lifeguard:
The Lifeguard performs a significant role in the daily supervision and operation of aquatic facilities at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. Under the supervision and direction of the Coordinator for Aquatics, the Lifeguard plays an integral part in the process of creating a safe and pleasant environment for those who utilize the facility.
Required Qualifications:
All student employees are required to be trained in Lifeguarding, CPR for Professional Rescuers, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:
- Able to work at least 6 hours per week ( we allow maximum of up to 40 hours per week if needed upon agreement)
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer service skills
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Enjoy and appreciate Health, Fitness and or Wellness
Swim Instructor:
The Swim Instructor position plays a significant role of the aquatic program at the Aquatic and Fitness Center, George Mason University Campus, and community at large. Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Aquatics, the Safety Instructor will teach American Red Cross Learn to Swim courses in a safe and pleasant environment for the participants.
Required Qualifications:
All employees are required to be trained in Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens. For those that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:
- Able to work an average of 6 hours up to 40 hours per week
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer service skills
- Scheduling and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Enjoy and appreciate Health, Fitness and or Wellness
Safety Course Instructor:
The Safety Instructor position plays a significant role of the aquatic program at the Aquatic and Fitness Center, George Mason University Campus, and community at large. Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Aquatics, the Safety Instructor will teach American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding courses in a safe and pleasant environment for the participants.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, Lay Responder Instructor, or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider Instructor
- Able to work an average of of 3 classes a month
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer service skills
- Willingness to learn and grow
- Enjoy and appreciate Health, Fitness and or Wellness
