Fitness Attendant
The Fitness Attendants enhance the health and wellness of the Mason community by providing a safe environment in the fitness galleries. While supervising the daily operations, fitness attendants enforce the fitness center policies and encourage proper utilization of the fitness equipment provided.
Qualifications required:
- All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired.
Yoga/Pilates Instructor
Yoga/Pilates Instructors lead Mason Recreation Yoga and Pilates classes, fostering a peaceful and quiet environment for participants. Instructors will teach different variations of Yoga and Pilates including, but not limited to: Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, Vinyasa, and Pilates.
Qualifications Required: Yoga Alliance, AFAA, or equivalent Yoga or Pilates certification; CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens Certifications.
Group Fitness Instructor
Group fitness instructors teach Mason Recreation’s group exercise classes. They help create a safe and fun environment for everyone to enjoy group physical activity. Some of the classes we have include, but are not limited to: Indoor Cycling, Zumba, Cardio-Kickboxing, Butts and Guts, Belly Dance, Core Conditioning and Cardio Sculpt
Qualification Required: ACE, AFAA or equivalent group exercise certification; CPR and First Aid certification.
Personal Trainer
Participates in the development and implementation of fitness assessments and programming. Â Fostering a safe and healthy environment for those that need additional assistance in achieving their workout goals.
Qualifications required: Certified by a national fitness organization, and hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Equipment Technician
Equipment Technicians are responsible for the daily maintenance of fitness equipment in the AFC, RAC, and Skyline locations. Technicians must also schedule and perform preventative maintenance, maintain workshop inventory, and assist with communication to vendors.
Qualifications required: All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired.
Internship
An exciting opportunity to assist the Fitness team with the management of the daily operations of the Mason Recreation facilities. Individual will serve as a liaison between the Assistant Director of Fitness and Personal Training staff. Refine and execute risk management plans and procedures. Assist with the recruitment, hiring, trainings and scheduling of personal trainers and relevant facility staff. Maintain records, and inventory of fitness related materials.
Qualifications required: The employee is required to be trained in CPR and First Aid (Opportunities for certification will be available near time of hire).
