*Eligibility for participation is open to all individuals who have an active affiliation with George Mason University.
- Outdoor Adventures programs will begin and end at Skyline Fitness Center on the Fairfax Campus.
- All trips will have a mandatory pre-trip meeting that will be scheduled by the trip leaders prior to the trip’s departure. Uncommunicated absences from the pre-trip meeting will result in forfeiture of one’s spot on the Adventure Trip

Refund Policy: Refunds will be given for any withdrawal made from a trip two weeks before the trip date. No refunds will be given for withdrawals within the two-week timeframe of a trip unless for cancelled events/programs or extenuating circumstances approved by the department.

Day Trip | Saturday 9/2: Welcome Week Hike @ Great Falls
Join us for our first day hike of the semester at Billy Goat Trail in MD! We’ll meet at Skyline Fitness Center at 9:00 am and plan return to campus by 3 to 4 pm. Trip registration includes snacks, water, transportation, and trip leadership from our student trip leaders!

Day Trip | Sunday 9/3: Stand Up Paddleboarding
Join us for a day of paddleboarding in one of the neighborhood lakes surrounding campus!

Day Trip | Saturday 9/9: Big Schloss Day Hike
Come join us on a hike to Big Schloss, a prominent rock outcropping in the Blue Ridge mountains with sweeping vistas of the valleys below. The hike is approximately 9 miles round trip.

Day Trip | Sunday 9/10: Gravel Bike Ride on C&O Canal, Great Falls to National Mall
Join Outdoor Adventures for their inaugural bike ride along the historic C&O canal as they ride 17 miles from Great Falls National Park in MD to the National Mall in Washington D.C. Trip registration includes bike rental, transportation, and support from our trip leaders during the ride.

Overnight Trip | Saturday 9/16 – Sunday 9/17: Intro to Backpacking @ Sky Meadows
Come learn the basics of backpacking as Outdoor Adventures goes on a beginner-friendly backpacking trip to Sky Meadows State Park. The trip will feature a short hike into the campsite, and registration includes equipment rentals, food, transportation, and trip leadership from our student trip leaders!

Certification Class | Saturday 9/30 – Sunday 10/1: Wilderness First Aid
2-Day 16 hour course certifies you to handle medical emergencies in backcountry and wilderness settings. Certification through Wilderness Medical Associates in collaboration with Global Emergency Medics.

Weekend Trip | Saturday 10/7 – Monday 10/9: Fall Break Backpacking at Dolly Sods
Spend Fall break with Outdoor Adventures as we backpack through the scenic Dolly Sods Wilderness Area of West Virginia. Trip registration includes equipment rentals, food, transportation, and trip leadership from our student trip leaders!

Day Trip | Saturday 10/28: Bouldering at NW Branch
Come join us for a day of rock climbing or bouldering. Whether you’ve never climbed before or are a pro you’re welcome to join us for a nice day climbing outside. We provide all the necessary equipment.

Day Trip | Sunday 10/29: Beginner Day Hike to Raven Rocks
Come join us on a moderate hike along the Appalachian Trail to Raven Rocks, one of the most scenic portions of the AT in northern Virginia. The hike is about 5 miles round trip.

Overnight Trip | Saturday 11/11 – Sunday 11/12: Bikepacking on the C&O Canal
Load up all your camping gear and head on down the C&O canal towpath by bike with us, camping for the evening at the halfway mark. Dinner, breakfast, and lunch on day two are provided. We provide all necessary equipment except the clothes you wear.

Day Trip | Saturday 12/2: Day Hike Signal Knob
Destress before finals and join Outdoor Adventures on a 9-mile round trip hike to Signal Knob, the northern-most point of the Massanutten Mountain range just outside of Front Royal, VA
