Monthly Awareness Topics
Februrary is Black History Month,
In February, we celebrate Black History Month.
We use this month to emphasize the importance of the once-neglected, accomplishments of Black Americans.
So, why is Black History Month important? Past events are still lessons for us to learn, to this very day. Our Nation still has a long way to go before we reach equality. These moments in history can be used to inspire us and motivate us to make a change for the future.
“Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations.” ― Dr. Mae Jemison, first African-American female astronaut
What is the best way to observe Black History Month? Read and do some research! Read about what events are occurring in your local community and how they are recognizing black history. Research past events that have made a change in our Nation and how we can use these now.
