Upcoming AFC Closure: August 1 – 14

Attention Students and Members,

The Aquatic and Fitness Center (AFC) will be closed for annual maintenance from August 1 – 14, 2022. During this time, our pool patrons may utilize the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center on Mason’s Science and  Technology Campus.

The RAC will offer extended hours during this closure:
– Monday – Friday:  6:00 am – 8:00 pm
– Saturday -Sunday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

The AFC will resume summer hours on Monday, August 15.

Facilities Closed for 4th of July

Attention Patriots!

Our facilities will be closed in observance of the 4th of July holiday. Have a safe & fun long-weekend. We look forward to seeing you Tuesday!

About our Department

Mason Recreation is a dynamic organization that includes a strong team consisting of 24 full-time professionals and over 400 student staff members. We support multiple programs including The EDGE: Team Development and Experiential Learning challenge course located on Mason’s Sci Tech Campus, Outdoor Adventures, Fitness, Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Aquatics, and Well-Being. Our Fairfax campus facilities include the Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC) (125,000 square feet), the Aquatics and Fitness Center (AFC) (91,000 square feet), Skyline Fitness Center (11,000 square feet), four Fields (natural grass and turf), Tennis Courts, and nature trails.

Play Squash at the RAC This Summer!

Mason Rec has 2 squash courts on the second level of the RAC, come play this summer! Don’t have equipment? No problem. Check some out at the front desk!

Summer Fitness Classes begin Monday, May 23

Classes run May 23- July 30!

All classes will run with our Group Fitness Safety Protocol in place. Participants must clean their equipment after use and must reserve their spot in class HERE.

There will be no classes Monday, May 30 or Monday, July 4.

POLICIES

  • You must have a current Mason Recreation membership to be eligible to take part in our “In Person” group fitness classes.
  • Admittance to all classes requires online registration through connect.recreation.gmu.edu.
  • Check in at the facility front desk is required.
  • Members may not arrive more than 15 minutes before their reservation time.
  • All sales will be cashless.
  • No towels for rent.
  • Small bags will be allowed but must stay with you. Lockers and cubbies will be closed.
  • Appropriate workout attire required, including shirt and close-toed athletic shoes. Sandals and denim are not permitted.
  • Barre and Belly Dance classes can choose whether shoes are worn or not in the specific room. If a patron leaves the room, the patron must have shoes on.
  • If equipment is being used in these classes that can be dropped on the foot, then patrons must wear shoes for that portion of class.
  • There is no admittance ten minutes after a class has begun.
  • No food or drink except clear liquids in sealable plastic containers.
  • Do not drop weights.
  • Return equipment to designated area after use.
  • Do not remove equipment from this studio.
  • Report any injuries or incidents to staff.
  • Anyone not adhering to these rules may be asked to leave the premises.
