Take our “Personal Trainer Prep Course” this Fall!

Interested in working as a Personal Trainer with Mason Recreation?  Sign up for our prep-course and you’re sure to ACE your certification!

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Join us for our first VIRTUAL Personal Training Prep Course! This course is instructed by a certified personal trainer and it prepares individuals to complete the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam. On completion of the course, you will feel better equipped to motivate, empower, challenge, and retain clients for the long term. Exam fees and study materials are reduced for those who participate in the preparation course.

**This course does not include the exam for certification. Participation in the course will qualify you to register  for the ACE Exam at a discounted rate of for the  $249. Registration for the exam is completed through ACE.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

  1. Register online here under the tab on the left titled summer 2021.
    *If you are not a Mason Recreation member, complete this form for a webportal account so that you can purchase the course.
  2. You will be contacted by email with the course materials website to purchase your study materials through ACE.

CLASS DATES/TIME

Class will be hosted virtually on Fridays from 10am-12pm, August 27th – December 10th.  We will not meeting over Thanksgiving Break.

Coming in to swim? No reservations necessary as of 7/5/21!

We’ve got great news for our members who love to SWIM!

As of Monday, July 5th reservations will no longer be required for the recreation pool.  The whirlpool will remained closed at this time, we hope to re-open the whirlpool by the end of July.

Locker Rooms are opening on June 23rd!

Good news everyone, our locker rooms and showers are opening back up! The AFC and RAC locker rooms and showers will be open and available for use as of Wednesday, June 23rd. Please remember to bring your own lock, or you can purchase one at our front desk for $6.

Reopening updates: Reservations & More

Heads up Members,

In accordance with the State and University, Mason Recreation will be reducing our Covid-19 restrictions as follows:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: 

  • Masks are not required if: You are fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged.  If you have not received the COVID-19 vaccine, please continue to wear a mask in our facilities.
  • Mason Covid Health✔️ required. Proof of a completed Mason Health✔️™ is needed to enter.

EFFECTIVE JUNE 14TH:

  • Open Rec is back – Drop in, have fun & get active! Stop by to play basketball, badminton, volleyball, and more – whenever you like. Our outdoor basketball courts & RAC field are open and ready when you are.
  • Spotting will be allowed on the fitness floor. 
  • Non-vaccinated users should maintain mask use and social distancing. 
  • Reservations will no longer be required for: Utilizing our facility fitness areas. Join us for a work out anytime you like!
  • Reservations will continue to be required for: Open swimming  |  Group fitness classes |  Squash court use

Student Staff On The Move!

Mason Recreation is so proud of all of our recent student staff graduates! Take a look below for a list of all the Mason Recreation staff that are moving on to new positions in the work force.

  • Alexandria Ricciuti accepted a positions as Coordinator, Operations and Aquatics at Old Dominion University
  • Cora Blom has been accepted to George Mason University Master’s Program for International Commerce and Policy
  • Elisabeth Johnson will be serving as the new Graduate Assistant for Aquatics with Mason Recreation
  • Jason Alino signed with the National Guard
  • Joy Ford accepted a position as the Assistant Manager for Long Bridge Aquatics and Fitness Center
  • Nathan Hacker was accepted to the University of Vermont to receive his PhD in Psychology
  • Sarah Sunder starts at John Hopkins after Graduation as a Registered Nurse
  • Zill Raval accepted a position with UMD School of Medicine.
