Brand Ambassador
Our Brand Ambassador Marketing Assistants are the faces and voices of Mason Recreation! Duties for this position include attending/presenting at information sessions, representing the department at special events, meet-and-greets, new student orientations and more. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Represent Mason Recreation at campus programs/events.
- Be knowledgeable regarding all of Mason Recreation’s facilities, programs and services; be able to educate others about this; engage students, faculty/staff, community members, families about how they can take advantage of Mason Recreation's benefits
- Collaborate with students, interns, professional staff and more in planning, support, execution, and assessment of programs/events on campus
- Attend recreation and campus events, to answer questions, engage passersby, and create enthusiasm and interest for Mason Recreation
- Present recreation related information to classrooms, student organizations and residence halls as needed
- Assist team in developing/revising marketing campaigns/communication
- Plan and assess needs using best practices and emerging trends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, health promotion, photography/ film studies, graphic design, exercise science, business, recreation and tourism, or other closely related field
- Demonstrated high levels of experience in customer service, public speaking, consumer engagement, working with student/community groups, RSO’s and more.
- Strong presentation/ communication skills; Excellent organization, time management & planning skills; Excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness to adapt to change and work in high-energy environment
- Role model healthy, holistic personal lifestyle behaviors and practices
- Must be available on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends for special events, programs and more.
Graphic designer
The Marketing Assistant for Graphic Design will provide graphic design & creative support for the facilities, programs, events, and services of Mason Recreation. Design needs typically include social media graphics, flyers, posters, brochures, banners, T-shirts, promotional items & more. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Develop/revise marketing campaigns/communication
- Create/revise print and digital marketing media
- Collaborate with students, interns, graduate, undergraduate and professional staff on planning, support, and assessment of programs/events
- Plan and assess needs using best practices and emerging trends
- Opportunities to represent Mason Recreation at campus programs and event
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in graphic design, marketing, public relations, photography/ film studies health promotion, business, or other closely related field
- Demonstrated experience creating marketing materials and/or promotional campaigns
- Demonstrated high levels of experience in graphic design
- Strong presentation & interpersonal skills; Excellent organization, time management/planning skills
- Willingness to adapt to change and work in high-energy environment
- Strive to be a role model for a holistically healthy personal lifestyle behaviors and practices
Photographer / Videographer
Under direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Marketing, the Marketing Assistant II: Photographer (MA II) will provide photo/video support for Mason Recreation’s marketing/ programming of the facilities, programs and services of Mason Recreation. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Represent Mason Rec, including the facilities, programs and services at campus programs/events
- Attend events and facilities to capture high quality/ engaging photos and video footage for use in marketing collateral, photo archives, social media and more
- Collaborate with students and professional staff in planning, assessing & executing of programs
- Assist marking team in development of marketing campaigns/communication
- Opportunities to present recreation information to classes, student organizations and more
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in marketing, photography/ film studies, public relations, graphic design, health promotion, communications, business or other closely related field
- Demonstrated high levels of experience and knowledge in photography and/or cinematography
- Excellent skills in: communication, organization, time management and planning
- Willingness to adapt to change and work in high-energy environment
- Role model healthy, holistic personal lifestyle behaviors and practices
- Must be available on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends for special events, programs and more.
